MURRAY MORGAN BRIDGE GROUNDBREAKING
On April 19 at 9 a.m ., the city of Tacoma will host a groundbreaking celebration to commemorate the start of rehabilitation work for the Murray Morgan Bridge. This next phase of work will return vehicle access to the bridge.
RUSTON WAY TREE MEETING
Metro Parks will hold a meeting on tree policy for Ruston Way from 6:30-8 p.m. on April 19 at Slavonian Hall, located on North 30 Street in Old Town. This will be the second meeting on the topic. Results from a survey conducted at the first meeting will be discussed. Kathy Sutalo, urban forester for Metro Parks, and Ramie Pierce, urban forester for the city of Tacoma, will be on hand to provide information.
CAMPBELL RECEIVES AWARD
Tacoma City Councilmember Marty Campbell was recently recognized by National League of Cities (NLC) for reaching the bronze level in its Certificate of Achievement in Leadership program. To achieve the bronze level, the candidate must earn 16 credits encompassing all five core competency areas of the Leadership Training Institute curriculum. The NLC is the nation’s oldest and largest organization devoted to strengthening and promoting cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.
